This year’s Faction Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 14 September from 8.50am until 2.50pm. It will begin on the school oval on the corner of Banksia Street and Lawley Street. Parents/Caregivers are encouraged to attend.
The Faction Athletics Carnival is an important part of our Physical Education program and provides students with the opportunity to participate in a competitive but fun environment.
Every student in Pre Primary to Year 6 will be in a running race, relay and at least three team games. A copy of the timetable with the events that your child will be competing in will soon be available on the sports noticeboard and on the THPS Mobile App.
Our annual Dockers Shield Lightning Carnival was held at Karrinyup Primary School last week. Tuart Hill Priamry School was represented in soccer, netball and AFL. A great team effort was displayed and a great day was had by all. Thank you to all those that helped out on the day.
A few words from our participants on the day:
“Even though we didn’t win any trophies we tired extremely hard. It was an amazing experience representing our school”
Siddharth Room 21
“The football team did extremely well and next year we should do even better because our team tackled the ball more aggressively,”
Thomas Room 21
“Even if we didn’t win netball, it was extremely enjoyable and I hope to do it all again next year”
Niamh Room 21
On Thursday, 8 March, the students from Years 4 to 6 participated in the swimming carnival. The carnival went smoothly, with Scorpio being the winning faction on the day. The final event, a staff, parent, student relay competition, was great to see. I was also proud of our students for their sportsmanship and willingness to give swimming events a go. A big thank you to Mrs Connolly for all her efforts in coordinating and leading this event. Thank you to all the parents who came along and supported their children and helping out on the day.
Interschool Carnivals – Term 4 2017
Congratulations to all of our students who competed in our Interschool Athletics Carnivals during Week 2. On Tuesday 17 October, we took 44 students from Years 3-6 to Dianella Reserve to compete in the jumps, throws and middle distance event. Thank you to Mr Raschilla and Mr Steve Ioannou for their assistance on the day. Our students performed extremely well in all events and by the end of the day we were winning the carnival by 1 point.
On Friday 20 October 60 students from Years 1-6 travelled again to Dianella for our annual track, games and relay competition. We were fortunate to have Mrs Snart, Mr Raschilla and Mr Ioannou helping us on the day. The students also appreciated Mrs Barnett our Principal supporting our team at the carnival.
I was particularly proud of all of our students for their enthusiasm and sportspersonship on both days. We were placed 1st overall which was a huge thrill for our school. Thanks to everyone for making the carnivals so enjoyable.
Overall results were as follows:
Division B Results
Tuart Hill PS
Sutherland Dianella PS
We will now move into A Division in 2018. Enjoy some of the action shots from the day.
It was great to see so many families attend our Parent Open Night on Wednesday 13 September. As well as visiting their child’s classroom, parents were able to visit some specialist classrooms and see a variety of displays in the hall. Well done to all our student musicians who performed on the night.
A big thank you to our volunteers; Jacinta, Brittany, Shakira, and Janessa who gave up their time to run the free bubble blowing and face painting activities, as well as helping to set up and pack up on the night. Thank you also to everyone who donated a filled jar for our Mystery Jar raffle – we raised over $100.00!
If you weren’t able to attend, come and see our NAIDOC, Science, and Book Week display boards in the hall. They will be up for a few more weeks.
Congratulations to all of our students from PP-Year 6 for their amazing effort at our annual Faction Athletics Carnival. Our students rotated through four stations of activities which culminated with relays in the afternoon.
Thank you to the staff for their contribution at the carnival. We really appreciated your hard work, enthusiasm, and organisation during the day. A special thank you must go to our Deputy, Mr Ioannou, for his support behind the scenes, setting up, and collating the results. Finally, I was so grateful to our year 6 Faction Captains for their assistance with all three carnivals.
Our Interschool Carnivals are being held in Week 2 of Term 4 at Dianella Reserve.
Those students who have been selected to represent Tuart Hill will have received a letter outlining the details for these carnivals. We will be training on the first day back next term. Please return your consent form before the end of term.
